Bankrupt In Every Way

I read this article some time ago about what Dubai really is, a dictatorship built by slaves, and a disgusting one at that.

The beautiful hotels by the beach? Here is the situation as one hotel employee described it:

The guests started to spot raw sewage, condoms, and used sanitary towels floating in the sea. So the hotel ordered its own water analyses from a professional company. "They told us it was full of fecal matter and bacteria 'too numerous to count'. I had to start telling guests not to go in the water, and since they'd come on a beach holiday, as you can imagine, they were pretty pissed off."
Now we are finally realizing the economic house of cards that Dubai is. It has been a moral and environmental catastrophe for years. Too bad few people knew or cared about it until it was a financial crisis as well.

The same problems exist in developing countries all over the world... Rampant over-speculation leading to dubious investments. I Read recently that the upper 40 floors of world's tallest building (located in Dubai of course!)are so small they can only be used for storage. Imagine the most expensive storage facility in the world. Best...Noah

Agreed, but that doesn't account for the slavery that built the place, let alone the outrageous environmental situation there.
